English guided tour

During this guided tour you will gain an insight into the authentically preserved above-ground facilities of Zollverein Shaft XII and learn about the production processes of the once largest and most productive coal mine in the world.

 

On your way, which leads from the shaft hall where the coal arrived through the production halls and workshops, you will learn more about the working and living conditions of the Zollverein miners. Of course, the tour also provides insights into the architecture and nature of Zollverein and its transformation from a coal mine to a modern cultural location.

 

Duration of the tour: 60 minutes

Maximum number of participants: 20 people (plus guide)

The tour is currently only suitable to a limited extent for people who are not able to walk well, as it leads through the originally preserved surface facilities of the former Zollverein colliery and coking plant.
