A polymer clay workshop with Frode Bolhuis

Gain confidence in modelling with polymer clay! In this workshop, inspired by Frode Bolhuis’ Daily Sculptures, we’ll explore the material through playful exercises and experiments. You’ll learn the technical basics, create study pieces and develop your own figurative sculptures. No prior experience necessary – just curiosity!

In this workshop, we focus on developing confidence and self-assurance in creating sculptures from polymer clay – inspired by Frode Bolhuis’ Daily Sculptures project. You’ll get to know both the technical and artistic aspects of working with this versatile material. We’ll start from scratch and build our skills step by step through clear instructions, practical exercises and playful experimentation.

Over the course of the sessions, we’ll work on deepening our understanding of form, texture and colour, whilst learning practical techniques such as building armatures, surface treatment and various finishing methods. Mistakes are expressly welcome – experimentation is a central part of the process – and you’ll be encouraged to work freely and intuitively.

We’ll create lots of small study pieces to help you relax and discover new possibilities, as well as several more detailed figurative sculptures in which you can bring your new ideas and your own artistic style to life. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have a personal collection of sculptures, as well as the skills and inspiration to continue working independently.

No prior experience is necessary – just curiosity and a willingness to give it a go!
